Eduard Palchys: I’d Better Serve Term In Prison Camp, With Clear Conscience

3

Belarusian blogger Anton Matolka received a letter from Eduard Palchys, who became known under the name of Jhon Silver.

“Well I completely forgot to tell you that I received Jhon Silver’s letter from Zhodzina prison,” – Matolka wrote in social networks.

After this the blogger quotes some extracts of the letter.

About Bryansk and his detention: “It’s a long story about Bryansk, one can write a novel. In short – I was on my way home, a group of people in civilian clothes took me off the train. And then ... Well, there is such a movie – “The Usual Suspects” with Kevin Spacey in the title role. Spacey got the Oscar for it, if I'm not mistaken. And also the Oscar was given for the screenplay. So it was like in that movie. If anyone is interested – let them watch it :)”

About the future trial: “I will not plead guilty, will not repent all what I have done. I’d better serve a term in a prison camp, with clear conscience.”

Anton writes that Eduard sends his regards to everyone, especially to Twitterers and Facebook users: “Thank you again for your support. I would even go to prison for your sake :) Hold on there and do not be lazy! Long live!”

We remind that, in late January of this year it became known about the detention of Belarusian citizen Eduard Palchys, the anonymous creator of the www.1863x.com site, known under the name of Jhon Silver, in Russia.

It turned out later he was under guard in Bryansk prison — this information was provided by the Russian media outlet “Sputnik & Pogrom” (“S&P”). In particular, it was pointed out in the article called “Ethnical Pole Helping Belarusians Build Anti-Russian Nationalism: A Morality Tale” that Palchys unsuccessfully tried to obtain political asylum in Ukraine and then arrived too Russia in search of a job. According to “S&P”, the Belarusian citizen was detained on January 23, 2016 in Bryansk region during an attempt to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The website www.1863x.com was created about two years ago. It published political texts which often contained criticism of the authorities of Russia and Belarus. The creator of the media outlet updated on terms of total anonymity. The internet remained the only way to connect with the website editor – this is how he communicated with the authors and gave interviews.

In November 2015 Jhon Silver wrote: “Precisely half a year ago, on May 5, 2015, I was detained by an operative group of the special forces, spent a month in the mental hospital, two criminal cases were started against me and I was forced to leave Belarus in October 2015.”

It is known he was in Ukraine lately. The website hasn’t been updated since then
