Ministry Of Information Massively Warns Cable TV Channels

The institution has officially warned a number of the telecom carriers, which distributed television production in the regions.

The Ministry of Information has issued warnings on unacceptability of breaking the media-related legislation to some distributors of the television production, upon the results of the routine monitoring of the telecom carriers’ activity in Brest and Minsk regions, and in the city of Mahiliou in June-July, informs the website of the Ministry of Information. The website does not specify who exactly have been warned. The Ministry checked on the following cable television providers: “Brestoblgarant” JSC, “TVSAT” LLP, “Mir-TV” LLP, “Efir-TV” LLP, Private Unitary Production and Trade Enterprise “Sfera TV”, “NORD” LLP, “Svet” ALC, “Cifra” JSC, “Garant TV Communal Service” JSC, “Jam TV” ALC, “Eectrosvyaz” ALC and “SAT-TV” ALC.

The monitoring revealed such violations as failure to provide the subscribers with the TV-programs included into the compulsory generally accessible set, and non-compliance with the succession of the broadcast thereof, broadcasting of foreign TV-programs that haven’t been approved for distribution at the territory of the Republic of Belarus, failure to inform the Ministry of Information about the beginning and the end of the programs’ distribution, as well as broadcasting of TV-programs with erotic contents with no special coding.

The Ministry of Information turned the attention of the television media production distributors to the necessity of obligatory fulfillment of the current media-related legislation, as well as the legislation on copyright and related rights.

“The repeated detection of similar violations will lead to administrative responsibility and withdrawal of the telecom carriers, which broke the legislation, from the state register of distributors of the production of TV and radio mass media,” — the Ministry has pointed out.
