Belarusians Of Draft Age To Be Banned From Travelling Out Of Country?

Eight months a year the leaving of the country will be banned.

Belarusians of conscription age may be banned to leave Belarus. This information has been received by Charter97.org from two unrelated sources.

The regime intends to introduce a ban on travelling outside Belarus to all citizens, subject to conscription for compulsory military service.

Given the fact that Belarus annually announces two call-ups for military service - in spring and autumn, and the activities for each of them lasts about four months, men of conscription age will be banned from leaving the country for eight months a year. Earlier information about the fact that Belarusians of conscription age may be banned to leave the country was published by the association of former law enforcers.

It should be noted that earlier the authorities introduced SMS notifications in the country. Citizens can now be summoned to the military recruitment office, including during mobilisation, not only by a paper summons, but also by a simple SMS. A person liable for military service must report a change of contact phone number within a week.
