MEP Wrote To Borrell About Fate Of Belarusian Political Prisoners
ISABEL SANTOS

MEP called for new sanctions against the Lukashenka regime.

MEP from Portugal Isabel Santos, the "godparent" of political prisoner Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, the activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, wrote to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell about the fate of Belarusian political prisoners and called for new sanctions against the Lukashenka regime:

— Today I sent a letter to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell with an appeal to strengthen EU sanctions against Lukashenka and his supporters. The situation of political prisoners in Belarus cannot go unnoticed.

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk is still in prison with no hope of being released, even though her third prison term will end in May. Eight Belarusian political prisoners died because of inhuman treatment.

Another day lost in the fight for freedom could prove fatal for any of them.

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, an activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, is now in Zarechcha prison (Homel region). Palina is completely isolated. Her health deteriorated greatly in the prison.
