    Youth activists Mikita Sasim and Pavel Yuhnevich were detained today in Minsk district Suharevo. The people in civvies came to the activists, show their militia certificates and said the youth activists were allegedly suspected in committing a criminal offence. What was the “offence” the militiamen didn’t say. As it became known to Charter’97 press center Mikita Sasim was even handcuffed.

    The fabricating of administrative cases against the democratic activists has assumed the mass character in Belarus. The OMON staff (riot militia) and militiamen are perjuring on the courts that the oppositionists allegedly used obscene language, and the judges in their turn are passing the judgements unlawfully. “This is the lameness of the repression system, created by Lukashenka. As such, they are not able to think up something new and less banal. The so called facts in evidence of such a offence follow the same scheme: a militiamen says it took place, the civil people never witness. If somebody accompanied the person, his or her evidences are not taken into consideration. From the juridical point of view it is falsification of evidence and unlawful bringing to administrative responsibility”, - Ihar Rynkevich, the famous lawyer, co-chairman of the Public Commission on the Political Repressions Victims Rehabilitation, declared in the interview to Charter’97 press center.

    N.R.M. played a concert in Minsk 10 October. The legendary rock group has presented its new album “06”. About 700 people wanted to visit the concert. The cloakroom couldn’t serve all the people. The group musician Yuras Liaukou wore a t-short with the European March symbols and slogan “Our time has come!”.

    Azerbaijan, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed the agreement on construction the Trans-Black Sea Pipeline on the Energy Security Conference in Vilnius. It is planned to spend $700 million on the extension of the pipeline from Brody to Plock and Gdansk. The idea of the pipeline construction with Belarus taking part was proposed by the Belarusian Popular Front Party in 1990-th. Stanislau Husak, economist, one of the idea initiators on the Trans-Black Sea Pipeline construction comments the signed without Belarus agreement.

    The Minsk municipal executive committee authorized the European March to be held on October 14. Nevertheless, the officials didn’t authorize the route proposed by the organizers of the March. As usual, the authorities proposed to the participants of the action to gather by the building of the Academy of Sciences and to march along the pavements of Nezalezhnasti Avenue and Surganau Street towards Bangalor Square. The meeting is to be held in the Park of People’s Friendship. Nevertheless, one of the applicants and organizers of the European March, assistant chairperson of the Belarusian People’s Front (BPF) party Viktar Ivashkevich regards the decision positive.

    Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement on energy cooperation, on October 10, at the energy supplies conference held in Vilnius. The parts agreed on launching a profitable corridor for transporting oil and gas from Caspian regions to the world market. In other words, the Baltic-Black Sea reservoir was discussed. Nevertheless, the economic commission of the Belarusian People’s Party (BPF) came up with the idea of creating the reservoir in early 90s. BPF leader Vintsuk Viachorka comments for the press-center of Charter’97 on the reasons for Belarus’ being out of the process:

    The police of Grodna detained journalist of magazine Magazyn Polski Na Emigracji Igar Bantsar. The member of the Polish minority of Belarus was taken to the police department. An hour later, editor of the magazine Andrzei Pachobut said chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus Anzhalika Borys had been detained when she had tried to visit Igar Bantsar.

    Azerbaijan, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed the energy cooperation agreement. The agreement was signed by the representatives of the profile ministries on Wednesday on the first day of the Energy Security Conference in Vilnius. It should be reminded that the initiative on construction the Trans-Black Sea Pipeline in late 1990-th was proposed by the Belarusian Popular Front Party. They see the future of our country in such a way: a democratic country, open to its European neighbors, oil delivering via Trans-Black Sea Pipeline. Now the idea is carrying out without our country.
