Militia lawlessness against European March organizers

Democratic activist Paval Yuhnevich managed to phone from the Savetski District Internal Affairs Department and say that the militiamen had draw up one more administrative report against him – for he allegedly “was using obscene language” in the department. In such a way the militia set themselves right with Paval Yuhnevich detainment till the trial 19 October.

The court will try not only the report, drawn up against Yuhnevich nearly two months ago – for his presence on the “Free Theatre” performance, but also one more fabricated militia report.

Militia lawlessness can be easily explained. According to the law, the militiaman must have released him before the trial. In order not to do so, they draw up the second report against the oppositionist.

Democratic activist Paval Yuhnevich served 7 days of arrest for the preparation of the European March. On Thursday, just before his term expired, he was guarded to Minsk Soviet District court. For his presence on the “Free Theatre” performance a report was drawn up against him on allegedly “using of obscene language”.

8.30 p.m. 22 August the militia special regiment (former OMON) rushed into a private house on Bangalor Square in Minsk where the “Free Theatre” staged a fist night performance. Five hours later the actors and spectators were released. The report was drawn up only against youth activist Paval Yuhnevich.
