Illarionov: «Disintegration of Russian Empire in its third phase»

17:22, — Politics

The Russian Empire is in the third phase of its disintegration that is connected with the national republics strengthening, which still remain in the structure of the Russian Federation. According to RIA (Russian Information Agency) “Novyi Region”, Andrey Illarionov, former economic policy advisor to the President of Russia, senior researcher of the Cato Institute in the US declared it on the press conference in Moscow.

According to the expert, the second phase of the Russian Empire’s disintegration which has been going on for the last 15-17 years after the USSR collapse has finished. As Illarionov remarked, if the idea of the Soviet Union reunion in some new form could have been realized early, now after 8 years of Vladimir Putin’s rule the project can be considered buried, the site Grani.ru informs.

“The CIS, or the former Soviet Union funeral began in the Gorbachev period, who did much to collapce the USSR. Yeltsin did his best to preserve it in a new form taking into account new relations. If analyzing the decisions made including those in the Belaveskaya Pushcha it was the feverish attempt to preserve the USSR”, - Illarionov thinks.

“For the last 8 years the idea and the organization were completely buried. Even the Kazakhstan leader who made several attempts to unite with the Russian Federation, says the idea doesn’t interest him”, - Illarionov said, remarking that Aliaksandr Lukashenka refers this topic “skeptically”, too.
