Organizers of Social March request televised address on BT channel

The organization committee on the Social March “For Justice” to be held on November 4 addressed the state authorities and media saying that the imperfection of the legislation and state’s total monopoly on electronic media make it impossible to inform people of the authorized gathering place for the March - the Academy of Sciences, 12.00. Still there are many who plan to come to Kastrychnitskaya Square as this is the place stated in the application launched to the Minsk municipal executive committee.

According to the organization committee, both the authorities and police hinder from informing citizens of the authorized gathering place for the March participants. This policy resulted in withdrawals of entire editions of information materials, detentions of activists who try to inform those who plan to take part in the March of the new gathering place.

Politicians say that unlike governing and law enforcement bodies, embassies of EU countries and USA are particularly interested in peaceful and civilized atmosphere at the March which ought to be held with a fruitful dialogue of the authorities and organizers.

In the current situation the organization committee once again appeals to the municipal governors, Lukashenka’s administration and TV channels managers requesting an opportunity to inform viewers of the authorized plan for the Social March of November 4. In case this opportunity is given, we shall treat it as a step towards a dialogue and an obligatory demand for arranging the March. In case we are refused, governing bodies are to bare the responsibility for possible consequences, the organizers of the March state.
