Barroso thanked Belarusians for European March

Aliaksandr Milinkevich, the “For Freedom” movement leader, received a letter from Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. Barroso thanked Belarusian people for their support of partnership between the EU and Belarus.

The UC president said he was concerned about the detainments of people ahead of the European March and assured that the commission is persuaded of support of democratization and respect of human rights, including freedom for speech and assembly in Belarus.

It is said in the letter that the Commission will continue to follow the events in Belarus.
