Belarus kept restrictions on trade with Russia in force

This March Belarus abolished 16 out of 38 restrictions that hindered from bilateral relations between Belarus and Russia, head of the office of access to foreign markets of the trade negotiations department of Russia’s Ministry for Economic Development Veronika Nikishina told “Interfax.”

“Since the moment when the agreement (on development of trade and economic cooperation) was signed - 23 March 2007 - Belarus has abolished 16 out of 38 restrictions that we defined earlier in the year and that infringe the bilateral agreements,” Veronika Nikishina said.

Between Belarus and Russia there is certain discrepancy regarding the restrictions that should be abolished, V.Nikishina remarked.

According to Veronika Nikishina, the Belarusian part believes some restrictions are not discriminating and hence will not be abolished. “We disagree, our dispute is still on, but there is nobody to settle it,” Veronika Nikishina said.
