BPF Party jointed International Democratic Union

In El Salvador’s capital the session of IDU Executive is taking place. IDU is an international grouping of democratic and center-right parties. President of El Salvador Elias Antonio Saca is taking part in the event. After the speech of Vintsuk Viachorka, head of Belarusian Popular Front Party, the BPF became an IDU member.

According to IDU statute two recommendations are needed to become its member. The BPF was recommended by Swedish Moderate Party and Norwegian center-right Conservative Party (Høyre).

Together with the BPF the party of Mikheil Saakashvili – United National Movement were admitted to IDU. The organization Directorio Democratico Cubano, supporting fighters for democracy in Cuba, received the status of an associate member.

“IDU is the most powerful world party grouping. Its members are 50 parties, including the strongest center-right parties of the world: UK Conservative Party, US Republican Party, Swedish Moderate Party, German Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union, Australian liberals (the Australia’s PM John Howard is IDU Chairman). We have been preparing for the BPF entry for a long time. So, ahead of IDU session in Washington, a talk between president George W. Bush and BPF deputy head Aliaksei Yanukevich, representing all the participants of the session, took place. Now we’ve got a powerful instrument for the formation of the world policy towards Belarus and have broadened a circle of the BPF friends in the world”.
