Belarusian support Russians in their struggle for freedom (Photo)

Ahead of parliamentary election in Russia repression against opposition activists have been organised – dissenters' marches are cracked down, famous politicians are arrested, the opposition is supposed not to get into Duma. Belarusians decided to support Russian in their struggle.

Activists of the campaign “Jeans for Freedom!” took part in the Moscow Dissenters’ march, held in the Russian capital on 24 November.

More than 3.000 people participated in the meeting. Representatives of The Union of Right Forces, the United Civil Front, National Bolshevist Party (NBP), the movements We, Defence were among the meeting participants. The slogan of the meeting was “For Russia against Putin.”

After the meeting ended, hundreds of young people broke through police cordon to Sadovoye Koltso. Shouting the anti-Putin slogans, they rushed themselves to Central Election Committee. Police tried to disperse the rally. Young people were beaten with clubs, the most active of them were thrown into special police cars for transporting criminals. Garry Kasparov, Eduard Limonov and Lev Ponomaryov were among the detained.

Though the activists of the campaign “Jeans for Freedom!” went with other action participants from the place of the meeting to the Central Election Commission under white-red-white national flags and with flags depicting Virgin Mary, none of Belarusians wasn’t detained.

Another dissenters’ march was to be held in Saint Petersburg the next day. But it was broken up by secret services. Police and riot police detained about 300 people there.
