Are the paving slabs in other Minsk sites also radiant, as those on Nezalezhnasti Square? Journalists walked with dosimeter near the National Library, on Freedom Square and other popular places of the capital.
The average radiation background in the city on Monday varied from 12 to 14 μR/h. At the National Library it increased to 17 μR/h. When the dosimeter was put on the slabs very close to the library, the radiation level increased to 25 μR/h, Euroradio reports.
Square of Freedom became the next object of journalistic investigation. To be more precise – paving slabs near the city hall. The dosimeter showed the radiation level of 31 μR/h.
The granite slabs, the shopping center “Stalitsa” paved with, showed the lowest radiation level – 17 μR/h. It was on the highest floor, which is close to the surface. But above the underground shopping center, near the building of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the dosimeter showed the highest level – 49 μR/h.
Another measurement was carried out on Nezalezhnasti Square. Recently, journalists of the official media were walking there with a dosimeter, but bound nothing. It resulted from the article. Though at the picture in the article the dosimeter showed 63 μR/h. The Euroradio’s dosimeter showed the similar result – 60 μR/h.
It have been already written, that specialists from “Sosny” institution carried out the laboratory researches yet in May by order of the Main Department on Economic Crimes and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They informed the investigators about the results.
According to Katsiaryna Shelegava-Samusenkava, head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, investigators have sent all the materials to Prosecutor General’s Office. There it will be decided if a criminal case should be proceeded.
