Dead failure in Shklou

22

Opening of Shklou plant of newspaper paper has gone smash.

Yesterday there was a commotion near the plant of newsprint paper. Its new buildings have been build in the outskirts of Shklou. Journalists and officials were looking at the clock with impatience: after a Start command everything should start moving in the production unit, and own Belarusian newsprint paper would be produced, the paper for most Belarusian newspapers and magazines to be printed on.

However the production unit remained still, and the startup of the plant was postponed. Representatives of the plant have refused to comment on the reasons. The regional executive committee “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” has been given no comment either. “Check out and start up activities continue. Not everything is as simple as we wanted it to be. The equipment is debugged. Probably the machine will produce a pilot batch in a day or two”.

Workers of the enterprise are anxious for the plant to set in motion. The production units will have 400 workers, for whom two blocks of flats for 60 families each have been built. Customers are interested as well. About 40,000 tons of newsprint paper is imported from Russia each year. Foreign currency is spent for that (a ton of paper costs about 900 dollars). Lots of off-quality wood is found in the woods around. When Shklou enterprise will be commissioned, a usual and thin chalk paper would be produced, this wood is to be used. The main question customers are concerned about is the price of Shklou paper. Economists cannot say anything about the price now.
