Fight for Freedom of Political Prisoners (Photo)

A banner with a demand to release young leader Artur Finkevich has emerged in Minsk. Activists of the campaign “Jeans for Freedom!” attached it to a railway bridge over Druzhnaya Street.

A criminal case against Finkevich has been submitted to the court of Kastrychnitski district of Mahilyou. It is expected that a court session will start in two weeks with judge Krachyk as a chairperson.

Artur Finkevich is charged with violation of the regime while serving the sentence in the corrective labour special settlement. Since June 29, 2006 he is serving the sentence for political graffiti. This year in December he is to be released.

Artur is kept in the remand prison and he is to be taken to the court under convoy. In case his conditions of detention would be made stricter for him, he could be imprisoned for a term of up to 3 years.
