Milinkevich demanding termination of political repressions

Former presidential candidate, leader of the movement «For Freedom " Alyaksandr Milinkevich has submitted the appeal to law-enforcement bodies of the Homel region for termination of youth activists persecution.

In the letter addressed to heads of the Tsentralny and Zheleznodorozhny district militia departments Alexander Milinkevich reminded them that «law enforcement bodies widely employ preventive and any administrative arrests of public democratic figures, the majority of them being sentenced by courts to administrative arrests and large penalties. Judgments were born exclusively on the basis of evidences of the militiamen who directly committed the detentions.

Detention, arrest for eight days and large penalty to youth activist Zmitser Zheleznichenka, former excellent student of the Homel State University named after F.Skorina expelled from the University for active public standpoint is given as an example , Radio Svaboda informs.

According to Alyaksandr Milinkevich, actions of security guards toward Zmitser Zheleznichenka," firstly, is infringement of the Belarusian legislation, of international norms in the sphere of human rights and, secondly, can be qualified as political repressions against public activists".

The second appeal of Alyaksandr Milinkevich was sent to chairman of the Tsentralny district court of Homel Grigory Dmitrichenko whose subordinates bring sentences to democratic activists exclusively on the basis of militiamen’s reports.

Milinkevich calls the judges "for refraining from making politically motivated judgments of public activists and for observing norms of the valid Belarus legislation ".
