Wajda’s ‘Katyn’ on show for Belarusian media

Representatives of Polish expatriates and members of the Belarusian media from Brest, Belarus, were invited to watch Andrzej Wajda’s “Katyn”, Saturday.

The screening took place in Biala Podlaska in Poland, close to the border with Belarus. The organisers of the show were the Polish Consulate General in Brest and the local authorities of Biala Podlaska.

After the film guests were invited to a meeting in the local offices of the region.

This is the first time such an event has been planned directly for Belarusian media and other influential circles.

“Katyn” has sparked interest in Belarus, although the film was not shown in cinemas in Brest.

Wajda’s film – put forward by Poland for ‘best foreign film’ Oscar this year - tells the story of how over 20,000 Polish officers were murdered by the Soviets in 1940.
