The film “Irony of Fate. The Sequel” has become the first film in the history of film distribution at the territory of the former USSR to beat the level of $50 mln. The sequel of the “Irony of Fate” directed by Timur Bekmambetov was released on December 21 last year and collected that sum in less than a month. For today it’s the largest film income for the former USSR countries.

More than 250,000 viewers have seen the film in Minsk cinemas, Interfax was told by the head of unitary enterprise “Kinovideoprokat” Vasil Koktysh. The film “Irony of Fate. The Sequel” is to become the leader in 2008. More than 250,000 viewers have seen it,” he told.

“This film has been rerunned in some large cinemas,” V. Koktysh said. “According to estimations, by the end of January more than 270,000 people are to see it,” he told.

He noted that “Irony of Fate. The Sequel” has beaten the record of the leader of the year 2007, “Pirates of the Caribbean” visited by 212,000 viewers.
