Demonstration of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners to be held in US

The Belarusian Youth Movement in the US organises a demonstration in defence of Belarusian political prisoners on 10 February.
Artur Finkevich, Young Front activist, was sentenced to 1,5 years of the common security colony by the court of Kasrtrychnitski district of Magilou. Political prisoner was found guilty of violation of internal regulations when serving punishment of restraint of liberty. Two years ago Artur Finkevich was arrested and sentenced to restraint of liberty for graffiti “We’ve got enough!” and “We want a new one!”
During the serving of punishment the young man received several warnings for violation of the internal regulations. The young man didn’t manage to appeal against these warnings. If it hadn’t been for the criminal case, Artur would have been released.
Artur has his birthday on 8 February. Being 23 years old, he has ill heart and his hair became grey a little. Congratulate the political prisoner!
Andrus Tsyanyuta and Kasya Salauyova, Young Front members; Andrei Kim, leader of the unregistered organisation “Initsyatyva” and Zmiter Lisienak, party “Gramada” member, have also faced problems.
Now, taking into consideration the hopeless position Belarus has at the international scene, there is a clear opportunity to release and our friends from new criminal cases, that is proved by unexpected release of political prisoners Zmiter Dashkevich, Mikola Autukhovich and Yury Lyavonau.
The main thing is to use this opportunity. Accused on political motivated reasons Alyaksandr Kazulin, former candidate for presidency in Belarus, and Andrei Klimau, former deputy of the Supreme Council of the 13th calling, are still in prison, serving long terms.
It should be reminded that release of all political prisoners and stopping of persecution on politically motivated reasons are the main conditions of the EU for improving the relations with the official Minsk.
The demonstration in New York is to begin in front of the United Nation Headquarters at 10.30am.
