6

Mikhail Anikeyeu, head of the Gorki district executive committee, refused to take votes of 500 district inhabitants against the nuclear power plant construction from activists of the anti-nuclear group.

According to Andrei Yurkpou, activist of the anti-nuclear group, Mr. Anikeyeu explained his refusal with the fact that a decree on a site of the nuclear plant construction hasn’t been adopted yet, Radio Svaboda reports.

“We’ll send the collected votes to the “house of representatives,” the Belarusian government and the President’s Administration. We’ll continue collecting of votes,” Andrei Yurkou said.

One of the possible sites for the nuclear plant construction is situated in the Gorki district near the village Kukshynava, 15 kilometres from Gorki, 50 kilometres from Magilou and 30 – from the Belarusian-Russian border.
