Young oppositionist expelled from lyceum

1

18-year old opposition activist Stanislau Senakosau was expelled from Mahilou professional lyceum #2.

The activist believes a ground for his expulsion was his public activity. The administration of the lyceum says the boy “violated discipline”.

Stanislau Senakosau was repeatedly detained by Mahilou militia during youth mass actions in the city. He says the administration knows about his detentions and public activity.

“I think my expulsion is connected with my public activity. I talked to the administration. They said if I didn’t stop, I would have problems with education. They promised to expel me as soon as I am 18. I didn’t pay much attention to these words then. I have recently had my 18th birthday, I missed a lesson, and they wrote a decree on expulsion. They wrote I the code of conduct,” Stanislau Senakosau told in an interview to Radio Svaboda.

The activist entered evening school after the expulsion, and plans to work at a plant. He is not going to give up his public activity. He says he his academic success is not prominent. He had 6 months to complete his education in the lyceum.

The administration of the lyceum denied Senakosau was expelled for his public activity. They say a reason for expulsion was gross violation of discipline: he allegedly insulted a cloakroom attendant.

“We haven’t thrown his out to street. There is an employment center, an evening school. But now we have a method, leverage, we have an example for others: see, guys, you mustn’t do like that,” the administration of ht lyceum said.

A case of Stanislau Senakosau is the first in Mahilou. In September, regional coordinator of the organising committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Tatsyana Shambalava and Young Front activist Rastsislau Pankratau were expelled from Mahilou State University. The ground was allegedly academic failure. They say they were expelled for public activity.
