On February 12 the leader of the movement “For Freedom” Alyaksandr Milinkevich held a meeting with citizens near the building of the executive committee of Pershamajski district of Minsk.

Alyaksandr Milinkevich arrived to the meeting at 6 p.m. The time of the meeting was indicated in leaflets which were dropped into post-boxes of the dwellers of the microdistrict. City authorities haven’t issued a permission to hold the meeting.

Beside journalists and Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s associates, Minsk dwellers were present at the meeting. Alyaksandr Milinkevich addressed the audience:

“Not many people have come, as the meeting had been banned. The regime has fear; it has fear of a simple conversation of people, they are afraid of the truth. We know perfectly well on what the regime is reposed on. They lie, do not allow freedom of information and intimidate people. But it’s impossible to intimidate us. We shall make these visits, which have been planned for two and a half months. Every Friday and Saturday we shall leave out place and travel around our country and meet with people. People want a conversation, they want something new, and they want a discussion. It’s very important for us”.

A woman gave Milinkevich flowers. She talked to the leader of “For Freedom” movement. She presented herself as Ludmila Saarom. Discussing the recent events in the country, she expressed doubt that the Belarusian regime could release all political prisoners, including Alyaksandr Kazulin.

“You know, if we’ll be apathetic, if we wouldn’t do anything, nothing will happen. It’s very painful to them to admit they have committed a sin, that they imprisoned people for no particular reason. There are people here who served a term guiltlessly. But we have managed to help them to be released. I think it’s thanks to our solidarity and solidarity of people living in democratic countries. That is why we shall fight for truth and defend these people for sure,” the politician said.

During the meeting policemen in uniform and in mufti observed what was happening at the meeting, but didn’t interfere. When Alyaksandr Milinkevich and his wife left, several policemen followed them, but there were no arrests that time.
