Political prisoner Andrei Kim to celebrate birthday in prison

Today the political prisoner Andrei Kim turns 22. Unfortunately, the activist of the civil campaign “Initiative” Andrei Kim has to celebrate his birthday in prison.
As we have informed, the democratic activist Andrei Kim was detained on January 21 during disband of the rally of market vendors. First he was sentenced to an arrest for participation in a rally, and then taken to the prosecutor’s office for interrogation. There he was charged with a criminal offence under Article 345 (a threat or violent actions against a policeman). After that the political prisoner was taken to a remand prison in Valadarski Street in Minsk, and he remains there now.
Several public leaders and politicians sent applications to the Prosecutor’s Office with a request to release Andrei Kim under personal surety, but unsuccessfully. The city court supported the same measure of restraint, detention, for him.
As we have informed, release of all political prisoners is the main condition of normalization of relations of the official Minsk with the EU and the US.
