Andrei Kim Officially Charged

It has been told today by the activist’s mother Tatsyana at the meeting of the steering committee of the public commission “Free Andrei Kim”. The charges have been presented for violation of the Article 364 of the Criminal Code (inflicting injury to a policemen in the line of duty). The punishment for that is up to 6 year of imprisoement.
As told by fellow-members of Andrei Kim from the civil campaign “Initiative”, today the guy who stays in the detention center in Valadarski Street, received the first food parcel, Radio Racyja informs.
Andrei Kim was detained during an unsanctioned rally of entrepreneurs on January 21 and arrested for 10 days. The activist of the campaign “Initiative” who served a 10-days arrest for participation in the protest rally of entrepreneurs on January 31 was to be released on January 31, right from the detention center in Akrestsin Street he was taken to the prosecutor’s office of Tsentralny district of Minsk. After the interrogation he is kept in custody in the pre-trial detention center in Valadarski Street in Minsk.
Last week human rights movement “Nasha Belarus!” started a campaign in support of the democratic activist. “We address leaders of entrepreneurs’ structures with an offer to launch a campaign for release of Andrei Kim,” human rights defenders write.
“We categorically condemn initiation of a criminal case against Andrei Kim, demand its termination and immediate release of the political prisoner!” the statement reads.
