Is Andrei Kim to be released on bail?

14:31, — Politics

During the sitting of a public commission “Freedom to Andrei Kim! Freedom to enterprise!” an initiative of a human rights watchdog Ihar Rynkevich about a bail for one of the activists who is kept in the pretrial detention now.

Mr. Rynkevich called upon well-known persons to send special statements to the prosecutor’s office of Tsentralny district of Minsk, and their copies to mother, Tatsyana Kim, Radio Svaboda informs.

He believes that “measure of restraint is not in correspondence with the gravity of the crime or the characteristics of the person who can be taken on bail. The Code of criminal procedure has such a form, and certainly there will be many people who would accept bail for him”.

The democratic activist Andrei Kim was detained on January 21 during a disband of the rally of entrepreneurs. First he was sentenced to an arrest for participation in an unsanctioned rally, and then he was taken to the prosecutor’s office for questioning. He was charged for violation of Article 364 (threats or violent actions against a policeman). Later the political prisoner was taken to the pre-trial detention center.
