The EU heads of state summit takes place in Brussels. The European People’s Party invited the heads of states that are not members of the European Union yet – Ukraine, Georgia, and Romania. Leader of the “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich was invited from Belarus.

“This party holds the majority in the European Parliament. The members of the party are prominent people – presidents, prime ministers, they meet ahead of the summit and discuss the events on the continent. The have invited me. I think it is a great honour for me,” Alyaksandr Milinkevich said.

At the meeting were present Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, Presidents of France - Nicolas Sarkozy, Romania - Traian Basescu, Georgia - Mikheil Saakashvili, Ukraine - Viktor Yushchenko, prime ministers Jan Peter Balkenende (the Netherlands), Francois Fillon (France), Donald Tusk (Poland), as well as European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, European Parliament President Hans-Gert Pöttering and others.

“The events on the continent were discussed: ecology, energy supplies, situations in different countries, including Belarus. Everyone is waiting for developments, waiting for victory. It was easy to speak, because all of them know about Belarus, unlike two years ago,” Milinkevich said to Radio Svaboda.
