A judge of the court of Savetski district of Minsk Alyaksei Tamanau has disallowed a claim of the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front against the newspaper “Sovetskaya Belorussia”.
A legal adviser of the newspaper Volha Ramanava has stated that defendants disclaimed the suit. At the preliminary meeting of the sides in the court she told that “Artsyom Chelyadzinski” is a pen-name of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Paval Yakubovich.
On January 11, 2008 the newspaper printed an article “Cool mirage” signed by the name of Artsyom Chelyadzinski, the press-service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists informs.
There were such words in the article: “That is why they sincerely believe that the persons who had never grown a pailful of potatoes, and moreover who had never sold it, I mean Mikhalevich and Milinkevich, could really help in the specific problems of entrepreneurs”.
Ales Mikhalevich believes that the article has damaged his honour, dignity and business reputation. The politician demanded to refute false information on the pages of the newspaper, and to compensate 6.160 Brb moral damages. As explained by A. Mikhalevich, it is the cost of a new pail for potatoes.
