Belarusian TV (BT) states the US Embassy in Minsk had organised a spy network among Belarusian citizens under cover of antiterrorist protection.
As the yesterday’s item on Belarusian State TV said the US Embassy in Minsk had organised a group of 10 people in the structure of the office for oncovering and revealing. The task of the group was allegedly information acquisition and reporting to the US by order of the FBI and using it against Belarus.
According to the TV channel, information was passed to a supervisor, a FBI agent who worked as a diplomat in the US embassy.
Belarusian TV workers say the group had special equipment – photo cameras, binoculars, video cameras and telephones. The group under the pretence of inhabitants was allegedly fix everything that could be of the US security service’s interest.
As BT says the group members weren’t allowed to attend the embassy and have contacts with its clerks, except for a supervisor. The group allegedly had a safe house at a distance of 500 meters from the embassy. Most members of the group were uncovered on 13 March during the documents inspection in the safe house, Interfax reports referring to the Belarusian TV.
The US Embassy hasn’t commented officially on the events yet.
