How to avoid blocking of Belarusian sites

On March 25, on Freedom Day, blocking of access to independent news web resources for Belarusians is possible. The mechanism of blocking is rather simple. All communication channels go via one crosspoint controlled by the state-owned republican unitary enterprise “Beltelekom”. In order to block the site it is enough to place a filter at Beltelekom server, and the access to the site for Belarusian users will be blocked. But blocking could be circumvented.
For the first time such filters were used in 2001. At the moment not a usual blocking, but more ‘refined’ method of access restriction is used. A filter reducing the traffic is placed. It artificially “narrows” the access channel, and viewers cannot access a certain resource. The site cannot be opened, but it takes about 10-15 minutes.
Our regular viewers know that such problems occur on the eve of important political events, and use proxy-servers to avoid such blocking.
Let us remind about this method once again. If you see that the Charter’97 web-site is opened slowly or is unavailable, you should find in google.com words “proxy server” and find a list of proxy servers that look like 202.91.159.16:8080. An IP-address is indicated before a colon, and then a connection port. We do not indicate proxy-servers here not to make work of special services easier Some of the proxy servers may not work, so try to use others from the list. It will help you not only visit our site, but will make your activity on the Internet untraceable. For proxy server setting you need:
For Internet Explorer:
- Choose in Service menu ==> Internet options ==> Connection ==> Net setup ==> use proxy server match and enter a proxy server address (e.g. 163.24.133.117) and port (e.g. 80).
For Netscape Navigator:
- In Edit menu choose Preferences ==> Advanced ==> Proxies, match Manual proxy confuguration and enter a proxy server address (e.g. 163.24.133.117) and port (e.g. 80) in the HTTP: FTP: and Gopher lines.
For Opera 7:
- In File menu select Preferences ==> Network ==> Proxy Servers and enter a proxy server address (e.g. 163.24.133.117) and port (e.g. 80).
After proxy server installation click OK and download our site.
