Solidarity actions with Belarusian political prisoners and participants of rally of entrepreneurs held 10 January in Minsk took place in Vilnius (Lithuania) and Narva (Estonia).
The action in Vilnius was organised by student association of the European Humanitarian University. As BelaPAN learnt from Kiryl Atamanchyk, activist of the StudAlliance youth initiative, in the evening of 16 April young people placed a stand near the Belarusian embassy in Lithuania with an inscription “Play toys, not human destinies!” Young people laid toys to portraits of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, minister of internal affairs Uladzimir Navumau and KGB head Yury Zhadobin. Students spread the information materials among passers-by about trail over participants of entrepreneurs’ rally.
In Narva, at Estonian-Russian border, Belarusian students held a picket, Ihar Sluchak, participant of the action, told BelaPAN. They unfurled a national Belarusian white-red-white flag and handed booklets about political prisoners in Belarus and Belarusian national symbols round. “In Narva, where 95 per cent of the population are Russian-speaking, the action of Belarusians found support and understanding, though Russian media describe Belarus as a role model. It was the first time for many people when they saw the Belarusian reality,” I. Sluchak noted.
