Paval Sevyarynets faces trial for freedom of conscience

On April 22 at 10 à.m. a trial over the co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democratic party’s initiative group Paval Sevyarynets will start in the court of Maskouski district of Minsk.

The politician is charged with violation of the order of collecting signatures for beginning of a legislative initiative for changing the law “On Freedom of conscience and religious organisations”. Earlier reports have been drawn up against members of the Minsk-based charismatic New Life church, the lawyer of the church Lukanin and its pastor Hancharenka, for the same violation. It is considered that the trial over former participants of the campaign for collection of signatures will start soon.
