Milinkevich hails justice ministry’s most recent decision concerning registration bid of Movement for Freedom 3

11:28, — Politics

The leader of the Movement for Freedom has welcomed the justice ministry’s most recent decision concerning the organization’s registration bid, BelaPAN reports.

Former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich was told by ministry officials on Wednesday that the ministry had delayed a decision on whether to grant registration to the movement.

The ministry has found flaws in the logo of the Movement for Freedom and says that the organization’s manifesto posted on its website contains paragraphs that run counter to its charter submitted to the ministry.

The organization has been requested to correct the flaws within a month.

“This time we are not just told to read laws,” Mr. Milinkevich said in an interview with BelaPAN. “This was the case before and we just did not know what we should correct. Now we have been given specific proposals about what must be changed and a deadline for this. I guess we are on track to obtain legal status and registration for the Movement for Freedom.”

“Legal activity is very important for us. We are able to work underground but legal activity is much better. First, we are law-obedient people, even if we don’t like the laws. Second, it expands the scope of our operations. That’s why we will correct the flaws highlighted by the justice ministry and submit all papers required by the ministry before the deadline,” he said.

Mr. Milinkevich warned that the movement would continue applying for registration until the ministry finally granted it.
