The Central Election Commission of Belarus decided on Thursday to deny registration of the initiative group on preparing the draft law on Nazi repressions victims.
A group of people, among them members of the public association of former Nazi victims, put forward an initiative to prepare a draft law, Interfax reports.
Arkadz Shkuran, head of the initiative group, declared, explaining the statement, that there were no legal regulations concerning victims of Nazi repressions in the Belarusian legislation. In particular, he said, the law on veterans pays little attention to social privileges of former Nazi victims.
According to him, the draft law suggests to form a Center of National Memory in Belarus.
Nadzeya Kisyalyova, member of the Central Election Commission, noted no violations or remarks had been found from the point of view of rules of the documents filing. However, the Ministry of Justice offered to improve the draft law and introduce it to the Central Election Commission again.
