15:01, — Politics

The chairman of the United Civil party Anatol Lyabedzka has been detained in Minsk on Independence Avenue together with “young Democrats” Vital Stazharau, Mikola Serhienka and Kiryl Paulouski.

As informed by the UCP internet resource, they were detained after they were handing out the newspaper “Narodnaya Volya” to passers-by. The newspaper contains an address to citizens, representatives of business and state institutions adopted at the 11th convention of the United Civil Party.

A reporter of the Narodnaya Volya Vital Harbuzau has been detained with them as well. All of them were taken to the police department of Tsentralny district.

Reports say that today members of the UCP tried to pass the address of the party to the “parliament” and the government. At 11 a.m. the UCP members came to Independence Square. However near the House of government they were detained by policemen. Then “people in plainclothes, apparently workers of the security service of the president” forced them out of Independence Square.

All the detained were released after documents’ check in the police department of Tsentralny district.
