17:59, — Politics

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus thinks the EU sanctions are incompatible with civilised relations between countries.

“All our European partners are well informed about well our principle position with regard to any type of sanctions. Sanctions, in this case unilateral sanctions, are an entirely counter-productive tool of communication, which incompatible with the civilised international relations,” Andrei Papou, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said to Interfax, commenting on EU extending sanction against Belarusian officials.

As a number of media informs, the Council of the European Union has extended sanctions against more than 40 Belarusian officials for a year.

The sanctions, imposed in 2006, restrict the entrance the EU for Belarusian officials, and freeze their financial accounts.
