Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” held a number of rallies in support of political prisoners in Minsk on June 16, the Day of Solidarity. They also expressed solidarity with Ivan Shyla, a Young Front member who had been expelled from the school.

The Day of Solidarity in Minsk finished by a few street actions, in which took part from 20 to 40 activists. Young people with portraits of political prisoners gathered in the Independence Avenue and Nyamiha Street in the center of the city. Another rally was held near the metro station “Pushkinskaya”.

Beside portraits of Andrei Kim, Alyaksandr Kazulin and Syarhei Parsyukevich, activists of the campaign held flags and pictures of Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, who is serving the sentence in the detention centre in Akrestsin Street in Minsk.

A streamer with the slogan “No to repressions!” was placed near the entrance of the metro station “Kamennaya Horka”. Portraits of political prisoners, Alyaksandr Kazulin, Andrei Kim and Syarhei Parsyukevich were attached to the streamer.

The streamer stayed there for about an hour. Passers-by and dwellers of the nearby houses were greatly impressed by the streamer. But eventually it was removed by policemen.

The rally in support of Ivan Shyla was held on the Day of Solidarity near the Academy of Science. Activists of the “European Belarus” held a streamer and handed out leaflets with information about illegal expulsion of the Young Front member from his school.
