“Parliamentary” election campaign to start 24 June

Interfax has learnt it from the president’s press service after the meeting between Alyaksandr Lukashenka and head of the Central election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

During the meeting Lukashenka emphasised the “elections” should be held in a democratic and maximally open way”. “National and international observers should have all volume of information about preparation for the election campaign and the processes at pooling districts and in election commissions on the day of elections,” the press service said referring to A. Lukashenka.

A draft decree on Central Election Commission members with advisory vote rights, suggesting the institution of CEC members representing a party, which would run in the coming elections, have been introduced to Lukashenka, the press service reports.

The head of the Belarusian state also note that “financing of preparation and holding of the elections should be provided in full force and effect.” Lukashenka also paid attention that “all facilities should be spent carefully and thriftily.”
