Ministry of Justice doesn’t understand aims of Christian democrats

The organising committee on creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) has received a letter from the Ministry of Justice saying this public association was denied registration.

The Ministry of Justice says it doesn’t understand “purposes, objectives, goals and methods of the organisation’s activity,” “Nasha Niva” reports.

It was the second attempt to register the BCD, the first one failed in December. The Ministry of Justice said the applicants hadn’t explained what Christian values meant and the way the BCD was going to defend them. The BCD founders filed documents for registration in May, but faced denial again.

Dzyanis Sadouski, executive secretary of the BCD organising committee, says “the grounds for refusal are far-fetched again. We are indignant with another denial and will appeal against the decision of the Ministry of Justice in the Supreme Court.”

It should be reminded that the Ministry of Justice denied registration to the “For Freedom” movement for the third time. The official reason is “inconsistency between the mentioned objectives and supposed real activity.”
