Yarmoshyna: Democrats’ requests can possibly be taken into account

10

It is possible that the request of the United Democratic Forces to include their representatives to constituency election commissions will be taken into account, said the Chairman of the central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

As said by her, Lukashenka “has voiced support to inclusion of members of political parties to constituency election commissions. It should be considered however whether these persons have work experience and other accomplishments, including political maturity,” BelaPAN quotes Yarmoshyna as saying.

L. Yarmoshyna has informed that she hadn’t seen the list of the UDF candidates for work in constituency electoral commissions. “This list cannot interest me. There cannot be centralized lists for work in constituency commissions,” she underlined.

The head of the Central Election Commission has noted that political parties and public associations have a right to nominate candidates to constituency electoral commissions. “The United Democratic Forces are some kind of aggregation, a single name which has nothing in common with the right to be nominated. Candidates should be nominated at the session of the leading organs of parties and associations, and then protocols or extracts from them should be presented to a respective region executive committee or council,” L. Yarmoshyna said.

As we have informed, on June 8 the UDF council rubberstamped a list of 110 candidates for work in constituency electoral commissions. The list was formed in the following way: experience of work in state institutions; a status in the society and politics; a present working place; education. Such well-known politicians as Stanislau Shushkevich, Mechyslau Hryb, Alyaksandr Sasnou, Pavel Kazlouski, Ales Byalatski, Valyantsin Stefanovich and Leu Marholin are on the list.
