Anatol Lyabedzka: ”Scent of bomb blast goes to government agencies”

2

Head of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka commented on searches and summons of oppositional figures to militia over the case of bomb blast in Minsk on 4 July.

“In spite of Lukashenka’s assurances, that there will be no repressions against democratic activists, we state that the authorities probably wanted the best, but things turned out as usual. We have warned in our statement that there is a temptation to organise a crusade, and it is happening so,” the politician told to Radio Svaboda.

Anatol Lyabedzka thinks the pressure of the authorities can mean only that “the trace of special structures responsible for the explosion is most likely to go to the government agencies”. “The today’s repressions are the evidence there is a great probability certain structures of the Belarusian authorities have relation to it. If it weren’t true, there wouldn’t be such summons and searches. They are not only in Minsk but also in regions, so we can say about a total approach. It is not a coincidence,” the opposition politician is sure.

It should be reminded that opposition activist in Belarus are summoned to militia for questioning over the bomb blast in Minsk. The KGB and militia searched private apartments in a number of cases. An apartment of Nina Shydlouskaya, head of the World Association of Belarusians "Batskaushchyna" ("Fatherland"), was searched today. During the presidential election Nina Shydlouskaya was a spokeswoman of former presidential candidate, presently political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin.
