Oppositionists still fined for pickets in memory of Hanchar and Krasouski

1

Uladzimir Katsora, a coordinator of the “For Freedom” movement in the Homel region, was fined 50 basic units.

The politician received a warning about this from the Chyhunachny district court of Homel on October 17.

Uladzimir Katsora was fined 50 basic units (1,750,000 Belarusian rubles) allegedly for violation of the rules of holding mass events. On October 19, Valer Rybchanka, the first secretary of the Zhlobin district committee of the Belarusian Party of Communists, was fined in absentia 20 basic units on the same accusation.

As “Belorusski Partizan” reports, Uladzimir Katsora filed a claim to the Chychunachny district court saying he refused to take part in the trial that doesn’t take into consideration arguments of the accused and so turns into an arbitrary process.

We remind that the democratic activists from Homel were going to organize a “Chain of Unindifferent People” on September 16 in memory of the tenth anniversary of kidnapping of oppositionists Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski. No sooner had they left the UCP office, they were detained by militiamen in mufti. The oppositionists were accused of taking part in an unauthorized march. 12 administrative cases have already been considered. Opposition activists got fines in all cases.
