Prosecutor’s office persecutes independent journalist

An independent journalist from Byaroza, Tamara Shchapyotkina, has received a summons. She is to visit the district prosecutor’s office on November 15 at 3 p.m. for “conversation”.

In the paper received through a post office, it was noted: the woman is to be a witness. But as Radio Svaboda notes, it wasn’t written in which case.

When Tamara Shchapyotkina called to the agency and asked what a conversation she should expect, the worker of the prosecutor’s office simply said: about illegal journalist activities.

Tamara Shchapyotkina works for Radio Racyja, which often is a reason for “conversations” in law-enforcing agencies.
