“Deputies” offer to hold parliament hearings on the question of issuing Karta Polaka (Poles’ Card) to Belarusian citizens by Polish authorities.

“Pole’s Card causes mistrust and sows discord within among our people,” stated Mikhail Arda, a “deputy” of the “chamber of representatives” of the “national assembly” of Belarus when the government answered questions of “parliamentarians”, Interfax reports.

“Why they start to divide our people? Who has given a right to the Polish side to name the agencies of Belarus which can issue official document for receiving a Poles Card later?” Arda said.

He urged “to give a legal treatment of enforcing a law of Poland at the territory of Belarus, to see into a matter of illegal services done by consulates of Poland issuing “Karta Polaka” thus violating Vienna Convention”.

In his turn a “deputy” Viktar Huminsky addressed Justice Minister Viktar Halavanau and asked: “Can Belarusian citizens working in law-enforcing agencies, the KGB, receive Poles’ Cards?”

According to the “deputy”, “after receiving a Pole’s Card, this category of citizens automatically attract attention of Polish special services”.

Answering these questions, Justice Minister of Belarus agreed that “state employees, military men, KGB officers should not accept assistance or benefits from a foreign state”. V. Halavanay underlined that “this document affects interests of the state, its internal stability”.

Justice Minister stated that in case a task is encharged to his agency, they would prepare a legal opinion concerning use of the Polish law on issuing Pole’s Card to Belarusian citizens.
