RNU attacks activists of “Moladz BNF”. Police pays no attention to that

11

On May 9 several teenagers in Navapolatsk, who call themselves members of the neo-Nazi organization Russian National Unity (or Russian Ethnic Unity) attacked girls, activists of the local branch of the “Moladz BNF” (youth organisation of the Belarusian Popular Front party).

In the evening two students were on their way home from the university though a forest-park. The unknown stopped them at a far corner, took away their badges with national symbols threatening bodily harm. The girls immediately called up police, but they didn’t arrive, the human rights centre “Viasna” informs.

The organisation of the so-called representatives of the RNU in Navapolatsk recently causes concern of the city community. Nazi symbols and leaflets often appear on the walls of the town recently.

However, administrative responsibility is planned to be imposed for public demonstration, production of Nazi symbols and paraphernalia. Such a draft law has been received by the “chamber of representatives” of the “national assembly” of Belarus. But still long time is needed for it to come into operation. So far young people from Navapolatsk-based RNU act with impunity.
