White-red-white flags flying over Minsk (Photo)

National flags appeared over some central squares of the Belarusian capital.

Activists of the campaign “European Belarus” hung out national flags on Independence Avenue, Bahdanovich, Yakub Kolas, and Arlouskaya Streets for the last week. By this action, the activists reminded Minsk dwellers about a referendum held by Alyaksandr Lukashenka in 1995 that changed national symbols of Belarus to neo-Soviet ones.

National white-red-white symbols have been appearing in the Belarusian capital for the forth week. On April 14, activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” started a 30-day action on hanging out national flags in Minsk center. The action is dedicated to the 14th anniversary of the referendum on changing the national symbols. White-red-white flags spear in Minsk in most crowded places.
