Boris Nemtsov: KGB colonel offered apology for provocation

7

A well-known Russian politician Boris Nemtsov during his stay in Minsk told about details about his deportation from Belarus in 2002.

Then a provocation was staged against Borys Nemtsov and Iryna Khakamada: a document case with a logo of the Union of the Right Forces (which existed then) was planted on them. There were rolls of dollar bills in the document case.

In a talk with journalists at the last press conference in Minsk Borys Nemtsov said: “I asked: “Have you put there the whole budget of Belarus, or not?” KGB men were greatly offended. But that fragment hasn’t been showed in your TV reports for some reason”.

Making an address at the international conference “Belarus-Russia: Is it castling or rebooting?”, B. Nemtsov stated that a Belarusian KGB colonel (which retired from the secret services though), who planted that money, has sent an email with apologies. “I feel ashamed for that act,” the retiree wrote.

“He felt ashamed in the human aspect, I think, but he might be ashamed as a professional too: they were ordered to act in such an unprofessional, kolkhoz-like style. Anyway, better late than never”.
