Lukashenka: Women are to give birth to not fewer than three children

The population of Belarus should make up 15 or 20 million people, the governor considers.

“I would like that our woman give birth to not fewer than three children”, - Alyaksandr Lukashenka said meeting with the participants of the youth actions “A question to the president”, “Interfax-West” reports.

He underlined, that “one of the priorities of the state social policy is solving of the task of providing families having many children with everything necessary, especially with dwelling places.

Lukashenka paid attention that the problem of demographic security is one of the topical issues for Belarus. He noticed that far more than 10 million people can live at the territory of Belarus. In his viewpoint, it is reasonable, that the population of Belarus would make up 15 or 20 million people.

Reasoning about a woman’s role in the Belarusian society, Lukashenka remarked, that “God predetermined a woman to be a mother and bring up children”. However, as the governor underlined, a father should as well bear the responsibility for children’s upbringing. “As far as promotion track is concerned, I trust women more than men. They are more orderly, more liable and are less bribable, almost not bribable” – he said.
