Kusturica went to meet the dictator straight away after his arrival to Minsk (Photo)

A Serbian film maker Emir Kusturica arrived in Minsk. His personal plane landed in airport “Minsk-1” at 13.55.

Kusturica arrived to the Belarusian capital for participation in XVII Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad-2010” together with his son and manager, TUT.by reports.

The guest from Serbia actually did not have time to answer the journalists’ questions (only operators of three state TV channels and one journalist of one of these channels were let to the boarding ramp).

It turned out that the meeting of Kusturica and Lukashenka was planed for 14.00 where the film maker directed straight away after his arrival. It was informed earlier that Kusturica “will participate only in official meetings with representatives of the authority”. But what meetings – it was not specified.

Kusturica had good impressions about Minsk during his last trip when he came with a concert in December of 2008 with his band “No Smoking Orchestra”. Belarus “resembles to a country whose citizens love their country… clean streets, order”, - he marked.

Tomorrow the film maker will hold a master class for students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, to which he, according to his words, prepared beforehand.

It is planned, that the film maker will stay in Minsk till November, 11.

By the way, during a work visit of Kusturica to Argentina in 2005 Kusturica and Maradona took part in anti American rally. The demonstration was held against the USA president George Bush, who came at that time to the American summit. The president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez participated in it as well. Shortly before the summit he addressed the participants of the rally with an appeal “to defeat imperialism and bring a better life to people”.
