Belarusian authorities fear information about democratic candidates (Photo)

The authorities hinder distribution of information about Belarusian presidential aspirants by all means.

As the press service of European Belarus civil campaign reports, gross violations of the Electoral Code of Belarus at those few laces the city and district executive committees allowed for agitation. Article 45 of the Code reads clearly:

“It is forbidden to paste over, paint over, damage posters if they are made and pasted in accordance with all requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.”

However, facts of violations were recorded. In their zeal to please the authorities street cleaners, store staff and even police officers tear down, paste over and even damage posters of presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov and other presidential aspirants.

Representatives of the executive committees and election commissions smile and shrug their shoulders saying, “We cannot do anything, people are just expressing their opinion”.

Such cases, demonstrating the level of culture and observance of the current authorities’ laws, were recorded in Slutsk, Dzyarzhynsk, and other towns.
