«Vesti»: Lukashenka drowns in the Internet

13

Broadcasting company “Golos Rossii” added a special project dedicated to the presidential election in Belarus to her website.

One of the main opportunities offered to the site visitors is online voting for one or another candidates taking part in the election. The one who predicts the election results most precisely (in percentage) is going to get a mobile phone. For those who haven't decided on their preferences yet there is a special site page with actual articles concerning the political situation in Belarus, states the “Vesti” TV channel.

The reason for this project creation is explained under the heading “Voting”: «There is an opinion that there is no choice, that everything has been decided, signed and nothing depends on people. But this is wrong: there is a choice. It belongs to those citizens of the Republic of Belarus who will come to the election sites on the 19th of December. We offer not to wait and make a decision here and now. And confirm your civil position on the 19th. We also invite everyone who cares about the future of Belarus to express their opinions».

Russians as well as Belarus citizens who are genuinely interested in the virtual voting take active part in the special project «The election of the President of Belarus 2010». Belarusians constitute more than a half of those who have already voted. At the moment more than 10000 people have voted at the “Golos Rossii” website voting project.

By the way it's the Belarusian audience taking part has driven the voting to a rather unexpected turn, despite the popular opinion that the current ruler of Belarus, Aliaksandr Lukashenka, is the most popular candidate. Right after Internet-users from Belarus started taking part in the voting Andrei Sannikau became the leader of the voting. He left the competitors far behind and is more than 11% ahead of the nearest opponent – by the way it's also not Lukashenka – it's Yaraslau Ramanchuk.

The current Belarusian ruler who was leading the voting before Belarusian Internet-users joined it now is only in the 4th position.

According to the data on the 18th of December this is how five leading positions are spread: Andrei Sannikau (27.99%), Yaraslau Ramanchuk (18.45%), Uladzimir Niakliaeu (10.74%), Aliaksandr Lukashenka (9.32%), «any candidate, but Lukashenka» (5.77%).
